Multi-award-winning Australian country artist Fanny Lumsden will bring her unique brand of storytelling to East Gippsland next month, locking in an intimate solo show at the Nowa Nowa Recreation Reserve Hall on Saturday, August 1.
The Nowa Nowa performance is part of her national ONLY FANS: Story Club tour — a tongue-in-cheek title playing on her name, though the artist reassures local audiences that the show remains strictly wholesome and family-friendly.
Presented by her signature Country Halls Tour brand, which has brought music to more than 300 halls across regional Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, the solo show is designed as an intimate “story club” experience. Lumsden will pull back the curtain on her celebrated catalog, sharing the inspiration, triumphs and near-disasters behind her songs.
“I’ve wanted to do a tour that’s only me, only fans, for a long time,” Lumsden said.
“I have a whole new lot of songs and have done a lot of touring the past year, so I have lots of ridiculous stories to share, and it made perfect sense to take them to what I know best — halls.”
Raised on a regional sheep farm, Lumsden has independently built one of the nation’s most acclaimed country music careers. Her impressive tally of accolades includes two ARIA Awards, 10 CMAA Golden Guitars and three AIR Awards.
Her appearance in Nowa Nowa comes amidst a whirlwind international schedule. Over the past 12 months, Lumsden completed two headline tours across the UK and Europe, earned BBC coverage at the Belladrum Festival, performed on the Bluesfest main stage, and opened for Australian songwriting legend Paul Kelly as well as international stars Lucinda Williams and Rob Thomas.
Beyond her music career, Lumsden is a volunteer firefighter, runs her independent record label Red Dirt Road alongside husband Dan Stanley Freeman, works her family property in the Snowy Mountains and frequently appears on ABC flagship programs including Backroads, Spicks and Specks and Rockwiz.
