Lakes Entrance’s reserves and thirds teams continued their unbeaten start to the 2026 season with emphatic home wins over arch rival Orbost Snowy Rovers in round two of the East Gippsland Football Netball League.
The thirds unveiled their 2025 pennant and hit the ground running, keen to secure the four points after sharing the spoils with Wy Yung in a dramatic draw last week.
In an outstanding all-round performance, the young Seagulls held the Blues goalless while kicking 10 of their own. The second half was particularly impressive, with Lakes Entrance recording 15 scoring shots to two, kicking seven unanswered goals to run out 65-point winners.
First-year thirds players Jeremy Rotheram and Leroy Hayes led the way, well supported by Harrison Bennett, Cooper Linn, Thomas Graham and Archer Connally. Linn was lively up forward with four goals, while Oscar Hopkins and Connally added two each.
The Seagulls have also begun the reserves season in dominant fashion, following a 74-point win over Wy Yung in round one with a comprehensive 67-point victory over the Blues.
Lakes Entrance controlled the inside 50s in the first half, registering 14 scoring shots to one to open up a 33-point lead at the main break.
Noah Bottom was the most influential forward on the ground, finishing with five goals.
Orbost saw more of the ball in the second half, particularly in the third term, where they managed their only goal of the match.
The Seagulls finished strongly, piling on five unanswered majors in the final quarter.
Kurt Grabham, Rydah Davy, Brendan Bassett, Sam East, Noah Bottom and James Daly were among the standout performers for the winners.
Several of those players are pressing their claims for senior selection, with Lakes Entrance having lost its opening two senior matches.
The Seagulls will enjoy a break over the Anzac weekend before hosting Boisdale Briagolong on May 2.
