THUMBS DOWN: To whoever changed the Coles carpark in Nicholson Street. I picked up a broken taillight lens from the ground and observed other motorists damaging vehicles trying to park.
THUMBS UP: I would like to thank all the wonderful passengers who came to my aid when I had a medical episode, they were extremely caring, you never know who’s on the train. There was an ex-ambo, a couple of nurses and a doctor who looked after me and rang an ambulance which met the train at Warragul. I would like to let you know I’m okay and did finally arrive in Bairnsdale around 1am Saturday morning. I apologise to all the other passengers for making your journey longer than it should have.
THUMBS DOWN: Recently we spent several days free camping at delightful Italian Flat camp ground on the Upper Dargo Road. We were absolutely disgusted to observe the condition of several different young family groups left their campsites. Campfires were left smouldering and fireplaces were choked with empty stubbies, beer cans, food cans, scraps and soiled disposable nappies. Campsites were left littered with empty stubbies, human waste and toilet paper – with a toilet block located within 100 metres. Respect these camping areas and take your rubbish with you. No doubt you would be first to complain when these beautiful, free camp areas are closed down and camping privileges cancelled.
THUMBS UP: To organisers of the Datsun show and shine in Lakes Entrance on Saturday. It was fantastic to see such a wide range of cars on display, and the effort owners have put in to restore them to their former glory. Well done.
THUMBS DOWN: To the Paynesville road bungle. While we appreciate that road repairs take time, the admission that the State Government conducted geotechnical testing 200 metres away from the actual site of pavement failure defies common sense. Motorists have been navigating the severe undulations just outside Bairnsdale for years, only to find out the investigation missed the mark entirely.
