It all started with the need for a lift to the members’ lounge upstairs at Lakes Entrance RSL and it has now turned into an exciting renovation to the bar and reception.
“Before we start the main renovation there was a need to fix the roof which is happening now, and we have also installed a new, heated swimming pool over the old one which was past renovating,” manager Jay Merino said.
“The word is the old one was the first swimming pool installed in Lakes Entrance and many remember learning to swim in it.”
The main renovation will start in early February and take at least 10 months to complete. It will include the removal of the existing reception area and rooms back to the toilets, which will become a new lounge area.
There will be an all day café and the bar downstairs will be extended and renovated. An outdoor alfresco area out the front will be incorporated into the plan.
“We will stay open, but there may be some makeshift changes along the way to make way for the modern uplift,” Mr Merino said.
“The bistro area will stay the same but will be a future improvement.”
Accommodation is also getting a spruce up with fresh paint, new carpets, new beds and linen.
“It is scary but exciting times that we have all worked hard to achieve and get to this stage,” Mr Merino said.
“It has been a combined effort from staff and the committee, and we are now at the pointy end of it all. We will keep members and the community informed through our social media as to any temporary changes.
“Bairnsdale builder Cadbuild is in charge of the renovations along with our many local suppliers.”
