THUMBS UP: To the local council for repairing the small section of the boardwalk at Metung. It was badly in need of repair. But THUMBS DOWN for repairing such a tiny section of the Metung Boardwalk. The whole length needs repair. It’s so uneven, so many people trip and fall on the uneven surface.
THUMBS UP: A big thanks to the highway patrol working between Bairnsdale and Stratford last Wednesday afternoon who pulled over the white ute that was tailgating, speeding and generally being a nuisance to other road users.
THUMBS UP: To our shire for responding to local residents’ requests for a raised walkway over the flooded footpath at Macleod Morass, West Bairnsdale.
THUMBS UP: To the gentleman who spontaneously gifted me a bunch of yellow roses at the supermarket checkout. I’m still glowing from your kindness and generosity.
THUMBS UP: To the East Gippsland Shire for fixing up the decrepit Cenotaph (war memorial) in the middle of Orbost. Ditto for repairing the clock located on it.
THUMBS UP: To everyone growing edible plants at home. Spending time, money, and effort on ornamental plants (while complaining about the cost of fruit and veg) really makes one look like a “dill”.
THUMBS DOWN: To the cruel or unthinking dog owners this summer, who go “mid-day walkies” on blistering hot paved surfaces. You deserve to go bare-foot too, for the rest of your lives.
THUMBS UP: To all the renters, home owners and businesses flying our beautiful Australia flag. Thank you. Patriotism is not a dirty word
