Popular local performer Olivia Lay is about to launch her third album, an EP titled Along the Way, at the Kalimna Hotel on Sunday, December 14, at 2pm.
“The theme that runs through the album is journeys and transitions,” Olivia said.
Staying true to this theme, Olivia will perform on the back of a ute, as that is what is depicted on the album cover.
All are welcome at the free event which will include some special guest performers who are regulars at the Open Mic events held at the Kalimna monthly.
Part of the album was recorded at Bruthen Studios with Brent Hodgkins, but also with Nathan Cavaleri in Sydney.
“I was the support at one of Nathan’s gigs and he really liked my music and invited me to record in Sydney if I did another album,” Olivia said.
Olivia has some noteworthy gigs coming up: on November 29 she will be at the Blues Train in Queenscliff and December 4 will see her opening for one of her favourite bands, Thirsty Merc, at the Torquay Hotel.
After the success of the country concert at Orbost Club Hotel this year, she is in the midst of organising Live on the Lawn at the same venue. This will happen on Saturday, January 10, with more news to come on
that event.
Event management is another area Olivia is delving into, and she is looking forward to doing more events in 2026.
“If there is anyone needing services in this area, please feel free to get in touch,” she said.
