The Lakes Sports and Community Club, affectionately known as ‘The ET’, held its 17th annual general meeting on November 11, reporting another strong year of trading and community support.
President David Baldi reaffirmed the club remains a community-owned, member-based association committed to supporting local sporting groups and not-for-profit organisations throughout Lakes Entrance.
“The board and management continue to advance the club’s master and strategic plans, ensuring our business model evolves to meet the needs of our members and the broader community,” Mr Baldi said.
“Positive changes are well underway, and our priority remains delivering improved facilities and meaningful benefits for our members, participating associations, and the Lakes Entrance community.”
Mr Baldi also highlighted significant capital improvements delivered during the year, including a new roof, solar power installation, upgraded furniture, and acoustic panelling to reduce venue noise.
Further sustainability initiatives are in progress, with a generator and battery system being installed to enhance the club’s use of clean, renewable energy.
“Our members have also benefited from increased discounts and personalised birthday cards, each including complimentary food and beverage offers,” he added.
At the AGM, the Lakes Sports and Community Club distributed $70,120 in sponsorship support to its long-standing partner clubs and associations. Beneficiaries included the Lakes Entrance Golf Club, Lakes Entrance Cricket Club, Lakes Entrance Surf Club, Lakes Entrance Football and Netball Club, and the Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association whose initiatives include the annual New Year’s fireworks display.
The club also continues its valued support of the Lakes Entrance Volunteer Craft Group Inc, providing rent-free use of the premises at 477 Esplanade throughout the three-month summer trading period.
Since its establishment on December 22, 2008, the Lakes Sports and Community Club has contributed a remarkable $553,077 in community sponsorships and donations.
In addition, the club manages an annual $5000 Community Grant Fund, available to local not-for-profit organisations seeking financial assistance.
