Lakes Entrance scored its second win of the season in the Bairnsdale Cricket Association “B” grade competition last Saturday, defeating Lindenow South Glenaladale in a thrilling finale at St Brendan’s Primary School.

The win elevated the Seagulls to sixth on the ladder, only a game outside the top four, and gave the side a well-timed confidence boost.

Lakes Entrance won the toss and were going along nicely at 2-92 before a batting collapse saw it bundled out for 115 in the 37th over.

Skipper Jacob Daly impressed at the top of the order combining well with son, James (31), for a 60-run third wicket partnership.

The Bulls looked set for victory, but some consistent Lakes Entrance bowling saw wickets fall regularly, Lindenow South Glenaladale got just 16 runs from its bottom six.

Harish Kumar (3/12) picked up the final two wickets as the Bulls crumbled late, all out for 105 in the 31st over.

Reid had a day out taking 4/3 from six overs, well supported by Brett Boyd (2/5).

Both under 13 sides put in impressive performances last Friday night but unfortunately didn’t taste victory.

The Maroon side did battle with Bruthen Red at the Bruthen Recreation Reserve and went down by just three runs in a contest up for grabs right up to the last ball.

Bruthen batted first and accumulated 5/69 from 20 overs with wickets to Chloe Walker, Sienna Matthews and Eddie Stapleton.

In reply the Maroons reached 3/66 with Lucas Walker, Mack Anderson and Mikaela Walker all top scoring with unbeaten innings of seven each.

Lakes Entrance White made an outstanding 2/86 from 20 overs at St Brendan’s with Levi Poynton top scoring with 11 not out.

In reply, Buchan was able to reach

4/101 with the wicket takers Kade Watson, August Neal, Oliver-James Morgan and Jackson Lawrence.
