What was once one of Sale’s largest function spaces at The Reserve Hotel has been transformed into a buzzing, family-friendly activity centre — E5 PlayZone. Owner Miles Ma says the idea was simple: “I wanted to find a way to bring that space to life with daily activities the community could enjoy all year round.”
At E5 PlayZone, fun isn’t just entertainment — it’s a boost for the brain.
“Every throw on the bowling lanes, every cue hit on the pool table, every button pressed on an arcade machine, and every shot on the ball blaster gives a little burst of joy,” Miles said.
“The expectation gives you dopamine, the surprises give you endorphins — the brain’s basically having a party.”
The centre’s name, E5, reflects the five major activities on offer: Bowling, Arcade, Pool, Ball Blaster, and Karaoke. Highlights include four lanes of tenpin bowling, two lanes of duckpin bowling (a professional sport from the U.S. — E5 is the first in Victoria), and karaoke rooms inside 2×2 metre noise-cancelling booths for groups of four to six, complete with African drums, shakers, and phone racks for recording your performances.
Miles is particularly proud of the bowling facilities, which will be certified by Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA). He’s now inviting locals to join both junior and adult leagues, offering proper competition right here in Sale.
Affordable, accessible, and packed with joy for all ages, E5 PlayZone promises to make everyday moments a little brighter — and a lot more fun.
