The Lakes Entrance Little Athletics centre had at its official opening last Friday night at Lakes Entrance Secondary College.
It was a big night for the town’s budding athletes with local members of parliament, Tim Bull and Darren Chester, in attendance.
Both gave credit to Adam Evans and his volunteer committee members for driving this new opportunity for young people to get together, learn new skills and enjoy healthy competition.
Lakes Entrance Little Athletics is not just about running, jumping and throwing, it is about giving every child the chance to discover their potential in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.
Each week athletes aged from five to under 17s come together to develop not only their athletic skills but also their confidence, teamwork and love of being active.
The focus is on ‘Family, Fun and Fitness’, helping young people set personal goals, celebrate improvement and enjoy being part of something bigger than themselves.
“Our dedicated volunteers and coaches are passionate about creating opportunities for local children to stay active and engaged,” club president Evans said.
The club is aiming to foster a sense of belonging and pride in the community where every child, no matter their ability, feels encouraged to have a go, learn and grow.
“As a club, we are striving to strengthen connections within Lakes Entrance by providing a welcoming space for families, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting the next generation of athletes. Whether a child dreams of competing at higher levels or simply wants to make friends and stay fit, there is a place for them here,” Evans said.
The club will hold sessions every Friday between 4.30-6pm.
“Together we are not just building better athletes, we are building stronger, more confident young people,” Evans said.
Families are encouraged to come down, get involved, and see what Little Athletics is all about.
