Lakes Entrance will be keen to get its
Bairnsdale Cricket Association season back on track when it welcomes the winless Meerlieu to the Lakeside Oval for a one-day fixture
this Saturday.
Losses to Orbost and Lucknow in recent weeks has seen the Seagulls drop to seventh on the ladder with just two wins and plenty of work to be done to emulate last season where they were one-day premiers and two day cricket semi-finalists.
The Seagulls have showed, with impressive victories in the first six rounds over St Mary’s Nagle and Lindenow South Glenaladale,
that they are capable of beating any side on their day.
Ryan Hooper and Ben John have impressed with the bat but they will be hoping for a greater contribution from a broader spectrum of players if they are to push to last year’s level.
Import Ollie Chaplin will be raring to go after limited cricket over the last month and he is close to a huge performance, as is
the Tussocks danger man Connor Mitchell, who is yet to reach his 2024/25 cricketer of the year form.
Rohan Blandford is always a thorn in the Seagulls’ side and he would like nothing more than to score big and get the Tussocks’ campaign underway.
The forecast doesn’t look overly encouraging, so another washout could be on the cards.
In “B” grade, the Seagulls will welcome Lindenow South Glenaladale to St Brendans.
