Last Saturday saw a couple of superb efforts at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club, with two members posting memorable milestones.
Karen McKenna achieved every golfer’s dream, scoring a hole-in-one during her round, acing the 11th hole much to her delight and that of her
playing partners.
Not to be out done, Stuart Yates shot a remarkable 68, featuring five birdies and an eagle, winning the daily event with a staggering
44 points.
Headlands Golf Club’s Gary Clarke was the winner of “B” grade with 39 points on countback from Neil McKenna, with Wes Coad (35 points) taking “C” grade and Graham Wells (38) “D” grade.
Combined figures for the men’s and women’s event was 113 players, with “B” grade player Rhonda Beckett successful overall in the ladies’ section with 40 points and Apola Weel the “A” grade victor with 37 points.
Last Tuesday at Young and the Rest of Us, Judith Collins was a three-shot winner from Stella Taylor.
Wednesday’s medley Canadian attracted plenty of interest with the winners, Renee Percival
and Julie Rowe, always hard to beat in this type of event.
They finished a shot ahead of Weel and the consistent Nola McKenna.
The Thursday medley stableford saw 91 players suit up with “B” grade player Ian Thomson the overall winner with an impressive 41 points.
The long-hitting Brett Stokes took “A” grade with 39 points, while Alan Lawson found form to take “D” grade with 38.
