As Australia prepares for major aged care reforms to begin on November 1, Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH) is marking the transition with a photographic display celebrating local clients.
The Federal Government’s new Support at Home program will replace Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care, introducing new service groupings
and funding arrangements.
GLCH supports more than 600 older East Gippslanders to remain living safely and independently in their homes.
The organisation has been working closely with clients and families to prepare for
the changes.
GLCH executive manager of home and community support services Penny Cassidy said the exhibition recognises the people and partnerships behind the delivery of local aged care services.
“We know there’s been a lot of change and preparation behind the scenes, and this is a chance to acknowledge the people at the heart of it — our clients, their families, and our dedicated care teams,” Penny said.
“Our focus remains on continuity of care. Clients will continue receiving the same services from the same local staff they know and trust.”
The photographic installation, on display in the foyer of GLCH’s Esplanade site in Lakes Entrance throughout November, features portraits and stories of local Home Care Package clients. The display celebrates the important role of community-based care in helping older people remain independent at home.
Penny said GLCH remains committed to supporting clients as the Support at Home program begins.
“We understand that change can bring uncertainty, but we’re here to guide clients through the process and ensure they continue receiving the care they need,” she said.
