Lakes Entrance is gearing up for one of its quirkiest and most enjoyable family traditions – the annual Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association Duck Cup and Family Fun Day, taking place on Melbourne Cup Eve, Monday, November 3, from 11am to 5pm on the Lakes Entrance foreshore and playground area near the footbridge.
The day will be packed with fun, laughter and plenty of free family entertainment, making it the perfect lead-up to cup day. Families can enjoy fun games and relaxed foreshore festivities before the highlight of the afternoon, the Duck Cup Race at 4pm, when hundreds of bright yellow rubber ducks are released onto the water in a spirited race
to the finish line.
Everyone can get involved by sponsoring a duck for just $5, or five ducks for $20, with fantastic prizes up for grabs for the winning ducks. All proceeds from the event go directly towards funding the Lakes Entrance New Year’s Eve Festival and Fireworks, helping ensure the town once again lights up the
sky this December.
“The Duck Cup has become a much-loved local tradition,” said Sharen Cameron, Chair of LEADA Business, Tourism and Events.
“It’s a free, fun-filled day for families and visitors to enjoy our beautiful foreshore, and every duck sponsored helps make our New Year’s Eve fireworks possible. It’s community spirit at its best.”
The LEADA Duck Cup and Family Fun Day is a celebration of everything that makes Lakes Entrance special, community, laughter, and the simple joy of coming together by the lake. So bring the kids, bring a picnic blanket, and join the fun on the foreshore for an unforgettable day of family entertainment and friendly competition.
