It was a big weekend for Stratford rider Darcy Wade winning the Pony Club Australia Best Achievement by a Rider 18–25 years.
Wade, who competes for the Stratford Pony Club, won the award among a select field of Australia’s finest young talent.
A pony club member since 2007, Wade is admired across his club, zone and state as both a talented competitor and an exceptional mentor.
He has represented Victoria at five Nationals, earned consistent success in “A” grade showjumping, including winning the Pony Club Victoria State “A” Grade Showjumping Championship in 2025 and even has represented Australia internationally in Tetrathlon.
Off the arena, Wade’s impact is just as remarkable, an NCAS Level one coach, gear checker, course builder and judge, he gives back tirelessly, managing zone teams and building showjumping courses, coaching tetrathlon riders, running clinics for parents, and serving as vice president of Sale Showjumping Club, where he helps stage major events from World Cups to Grand Prix.
Known for his generosity, whether saddling ponies, backing floats or flipping sausages on the barbecue, Wade is celebrated as much for his kindness and leadership as for his competitive achievements.
Wade also won the Open Showjumping at the 2025 Pony Club Nationals Championships at Werribee Park last Saturday.
To cap off a huge weekend, he was also successful at Boneo Park on Sunday in the Racing Victoria Magic Millions Qualifier 105 centimetre aboard Miss Delfyne.
