Lakes Entrance Tennis Club (LETC) will host a big day at its Tennis and Pickleball facility in Palmers Road this Saturday, with the major highlight being the opportunity to see the trophies of the men’s and ladies Australian Open singles winners.
Earlier in the year the club was one of a number of regional clubs selected to have Tennis Victoria’s Sustainable Regional Tennis Roadshow visit the region.
The principal reason behind the roadshow is to offer up off-court upskilling opportunities in the areas of grants and digital systems, and on-court in hot shots coaching and cardio tennis.
The event is mainly aimed at those in the volunteer space, as many clubs in regional areas lack coaches and volunteers.
Those interested from either within the club or from other tennis clubs around East Gippsland are welcome to register through the online platform at Tennis Victoria.
In conjunction, LETC will also run an open day for both tennis and pickleball on the same day with the Australian Open trophies on display from 1pm.
On offer will be a range of activities such as free hitting, cardio tennis, adult and junior coaching, the tennis ball machine, a radar serving speed gun and club membership deals.
A sausage sizzle, with a gold coin donation, will also be in operation.
Session times include set up and welcome (9.30-10.30am), off-court upskilling (10 to 11am) and on-court upskilling (11am to 1pm).
The open day will then be held between 1-3pm with everyone welcome.
