THUMBS UP: To the hard-working volunteers at the Lakes Entrance Historical Society for making Tuesday, October 7 such a wonderful day for the launch of my book and thank you to Mr Tim Bull for his lovely speech. We could have done without the pile driver across the road, but I suppose they have to do their work.
THUMBS UP: To the organisers of the Welcome Back the Birds event at Eagle Point. It was a great family day out and a fantastic reminder of how special our local wildlife is.
THUMBS DOWN: To the small number of people who ignored the “dogs on leads” signs at the same event. It’s not hard to follow simple rules that protect our native birds.
THUMBS UP: To the Lakes Entrance Garden Club for another colourful and friendly monthly meeting. The displays looked amazing — well done to all the growers.
THUMBS DOWN: To the drivers speeding through the detour near Wy Yung over the weekend. Please slow down — road workers deserve to get home safely too.
THUMBS UP: To all the hardworking local businesses keeping visitors well-fed and entertained during the recent school holidays. You’re the backbone of East Gippsland’s tourism.
THUMBS DOWN: To the people who left their litter behind after last weekend’s markets. Let’s respect our beautiful towns — take your rubbish with you.
THUMBS UP: To everyone who supported the Lakes Entrance U3A and celebrated Barbara Decker’s years of service. It’s great to see community spirit alive and well.
