For the past few years, the Lakes Entrance RSL and others around town have been pushing Kevin Wigg to write a book about his experiences, and finally he buckled.
“After two years of nagging I published Hardly a Challenge under the author name of Max Thornton, then followed with Spiders of Spy and Spiders in the Graveyard,” Kevin said.
These three books are now on the shelves at Lake Books and Games and Kevin guarantees they will be a good read.
Independent reviewers who read the book before it went to press were impressed.
Judith Flitcroft finished her review with the words: “I’ll let Max’s words complete this review – ‘To be old and wise, you first have to be young and stupid’. Pick up a copy of this book and let every word, phrase and yarn capture you.”
Ken Price reviewed Spiders of Spy and described it as a spy fiction about eight retirees brought out of retirement by ASIO to retrieve microchips or is it ampoules
of coronavirus.
“The lies and deception keep us guessing. The action and intrigue created by Max Thornton keeps us turning pages to see what will happen next,” Ken said.
Kevin Wigg is a Vietnam veteran, retired Melbourne fire and rescue member, and served with the Victorian Civil Ambulance.
He acknowledges the many hands that have brought these books to life and is convinced that delving into fantasy helps us understand the possibilities of reality, therefore his books have a healthy balance of reality and fantasy.
He thanked the Lakes Entrance people who encouraged him to write these books.
Drop into Lakes Books and Games and get a copy. They will also be available at the local library in the future.
His fourth book, Red Dirt and Barbed Wire, will also be released soon.
