The Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) under 18 team has been training hard in preparation for its first Gippsland Cricket League match this Sunday against Warragul at Neerim South.
The initial squad contained 25 players, who have trained under the watchful eye of coach Anthony Simpson, who has reviewed nominations and has decided on a squad that will be used in the early matches.
The squad includes Frazer Jackson, Zane Delaney, Harper Clack, Noah Mathers, Oliver Simpson, Mitchell Johnson, Archie Poore, Harry Forbes, Ayrton Corben, Albie Clark, Luis Wilson, Kyden Capes, Will Davidson, Des Hine and Seth Noonan.
Players not selected remain well and truly in the mix for the squad, with further games including the 20/20 Cameron White Cup to follow, with good cricket to be rewarded by the selectors.
The remaining BCA representative sides will begin their campaigns on October 26.
The senior side will host Cricket Latrobe Valley while the under 13 and 15 teams will play the same outfit in the Latrobe Valley.
The women’s side will do battle with Leongatha locally.
The under 15 side will be coached by Rick Watt and Paul Capes, assisted by Mick Irish.
The under 13 team is under the tutelage of Wayne Richards, ably assisted by Charles Stansfield and Rowan Hellisen.
