Youngster Thomas Smibert led 64 other participants home in last Saturday’s edition of the Lakes Entrance parkrun.
Smibert, one of 23 first-time runners, completed the course in an impressive time of 19 minutes and 31 seconds in ideal conditions for a walk, jog or run.
The weekly five-kilometre sojourn along the esplanade attracted visitors from England, Darwin, Melbourne and the wide expanses of Victoria.
The first women across the line was Mace Neve (24.52), while four people created personal best times. They were Josh Weeks (24.21), Caroline Evans (27.24), Stu Sutherland (34.32) and Melina Perera (42.43).
Participants departed from the rotunda at 8am with representatives from the Riot Runners, Lakes and District Runners, Orienteering ACT, Running in the Burbs, Correbirras, Australia Post Group, U3A Batemans Bay and Southern Peninsula Sports Club all spotted on the course.
