It was another huge week of action at Lakes Entrance Golf Club with the improvement in weather pleasing the players as well as the magpies and snakes.

Tuesday’s Young and the Rest of Us event was dominated by Margaret Simpson with a score of 35, finishing well ahead of the consistent Stella Taylor (38).

There was an outstanding turnout of 46 players for Ruthless and Toothless, with Norm Backman taking “A” grade on countback from the long-hitting Justin Gray.

In “B” grade, David Casey was also a countback winner, this time over Allan Radford.

Backman posted the best round of the day, a stylish 39 highlighted by just 13 putts.

In Wednesday’s stroke medley, Sue Toseland was the winner of “B” grade and overall with Brenda Wall taking “A” grade.

Thursday’s medley stroke attracted 73 players and was won by “B” grade player Bill Fry, with “A” grade going to the clean striking Spud Le Maitre, with Greg Bull victorious in “C” grade.

Saturday’s medley stableford saw 93 players tee off, with “B” grade player Les Beattie the overall winner with an exceptional 44 points.

Not far behind was “C” grade winner Judith Congalton with 43, while the consistent Barry Brand prevailed in “A” grade with 38 points.

Brenda Wall was all smiles after taking “A” grade last Wednesday at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club. (PS)
