The fair is back in town!

Mark your calendars – the popular Avon Anglican Family Fun Fair is returning on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

The event will run from 10am to 2pm in the Anglican Church precinct at 26 McFarlane Street.

Thanks to a grant from Wellington Shire Council and support from Marathon Electrical and the Stratford Scouts Group, entry to the fair and all children’s activities and treats will be free.

Wellington Shire Councillor Edward Lowe will officially welcome families at 11.30am.

Younger attendees will be spoiled for choice with a massive lineup of free attractions, including a trackless train, jumping castles, an animal petting zoo, face painting, fairy floss and balloon twisting.

Volunteers will also be handing out treats, and there will be free lucky dips, children’s books, and handcrafted wooden toys available.

Lunch will be easy and affordable, with a sausage sizzle alongside free sandwiches and drinks.

While the kids play, adults can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with background music provided by the Briagolong Strum Group.

A variety of stalls will be on offer, including bargain cakes and plants, free native plants from the Stratford Landcare stand and handcrafted wooden items at the Stratford Men’s Shed stand.

A raffle with great prizes will also be running throughout the day.

A highlight of the fair is the much-loved pet show, which will be judged by Dr Steve Postlethwaite.

Pet owners can register their companions from 10.15am on the day to compete in fun categories such as best small pet, best costumed pet, pet that looks most like its owner, and waggiest tail. All pets must be under their owner’s control, with dogs on a leash.

Organisers have confirmed that in the case of wet weather, most activities will be held under cover. The whole community is invited to come along and enjoy a day with something for everybody.
