It was a night of laughter, music and heartfelt community spirit at the Metung Yacht Club, as the Metung Bloodhounds Inc. officially launched their much-anticipated Bare to Care 2026 Calendar.
The event, attended by members, sponsors and guests, honoured past Bloodhounds while celebrating the 44 extraordinary women — ranging in age from their 30s to their 90s — who courageously bared all for the calendar. Nine original Bloodhounds from the 2007 edition also made a proud return, linking the project back to its celebrated origins.
The evening was filled with energy and joy.
Entertainment came courtesy of crowd favourites #BeatsWorkin, who had the dance floor buzzing, while Zumba instructor Nicole Mann led the calendar girls in a lively routine set to Girls Just Want to Have Fun.
It was a moment that captured the fearless, fun-loving spirit that has defined the Bloodhounds since their earliest days.
Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) was front and centre on the night, expressing gratitude for the Bloodhounds’ ongoing efforts and explaining how the funds raised will directly benefit vital improvements to the Emergency Care Unit.
“Their ongoing support and the way they’ve inspired the next generation to carry the torch demonstrate the power of community action,” said BRHS chief executive officer Peter Abraham.
For one proud second-generation calendar girl, the evening held extra meaning.
“This calendar was made with heart — and just a little cheek,” she laughed.
“I’m hopeful that with such positive modelling, my daughter will grow in a world where body diversity, imagery and perception is a kinder space to negotiate.”
The Bare to Care 2026 Calendar pays homage to the original 2007 edition, which successfully raised funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Oncology Ward at Bairnsdale Hospital. True to tradition, the latest project embodies courage, humour, and a deep love of community.
Since July 2012, the Bloodhounds have raised approximately $250,000 for 45 local projects across East Gippsland.
The 2026 calendar is another example of their determination to give back. Local businesses pitched in by providing scenic backdrops, as well as covering the initial printing and production costs, ensuring that every possible dollar from calendar sales will flow directly into the Emergency Ward upgrade.
The limited-edition calendars are available now for $20 each. Copies can be purchased from the BRHS hospital reception, selected businesses across Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and Metung, and at Bunnings in the lead-up to Christmas.
They’ll also be on sale at the Paynesville market on Saturday, September 27 from 8am-12.30pm and the Howitt Park market on Sunday, September 28 from 8am-1pm.
For convenience, calendars can also be ordered online.
For the Bloodhounds, baring all has never been just about cheeky photos. It’s about courage, connection, and commitment to community. As the 2026 edition hits the shelves, one thing is certain: every calendar sold is another step toward a stronger, better-resourced emergency department for the people of East Gippsland.
Every calendar makes a difference.
