The highlight of the last week of golf at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club was the club handicapper, Rhonda Beckett’s hole-in-one during Saturday’s women’s competition.

It was Beckett’s first hole-in-one, playing a stunning shot on the picturesque 15th hole, making it a day to remember.

Beckett finished with 31 points in the stableford event, enough for victory in “B” grade, with “A” grade and the outright win, again going to club champion Renee Percival.

The long hitting right hander finished with an impressive 37 points and also picked up two nearest the pins with Beckett

thwarting another.

The men’s event saw “B” grade player David Cuthbertson the winner with a great score of 39 points.

Garry Watson won “A” grade with 36 points while Allan Watson returned to form picking up “C” grade with 36 points.

Last Tuesday in Ruthless and Toothless, Cuthertson was again to the fore winning “A” grade in consecutive weeks with Ron Baldock all smiles after picking up “B” grade.

Lorna Tiziani was successful at Young and the Rest of Us with Marie Te Wierik runner-up.

Wednesday’s women’s stableford event was down on numbers, “B” grade player Marlene Holmes leading the field home with 32 points.

Coloured ball winners were Sue Wilson, Holmes and Val Gilbert.

Thursday’s event attracted 75 players with “A” grader, Neil Howell leading the field home with 37 points, Igor Malajew again among the winners taking “B” grade, with Lawson victorious in “C” grade.
