The Stratford Angling Club recently attended the Bemm River, and although the weather scared quite a few away, a great time was still had by all that attended.
The lake was low, with minimal access to areas such as mud lake, swan lake, Siberia and the river. Friday’s weather was good but fishing was hard going, a lot of fish caught but
many undersize.
On Saturday everyone got out for a fish, most targeting the channel and the mahoganies while a couple went up the river, but all were blown off the water by 12.30pm and went back to the boat ramp for a weigh in at 1pm.
The rain and wind didn’t stop all night and was still going Sunday morning and it was decided to call the competition off and have the presentation early at the Shaw’s house.
The heaviest bream was caught by Andrew Hare (964 grams), while the heaviest other variety was a salmon caught by Brenton Pape (1786 grams).
Allan Beechey won the secret weight, with raffle prize winners, Dan Cartwright and Pape.
No juniors fished, with the next event being the annual general meeting on Tuesday, June 3 at the RSL.
The Stratford verses Sale bream competition will be held from June 20-22.
