The East Gippsland Social Seniors Exercise Group will be running a free come and try day to promote a new fun exercise program known as Walking Football.
The Come and Try Day is on Tuesday, July 8, 10am to noon at Sports and Recreation Hall, Carpenter Street, Lakes Entrance, including morning tea and a social chat. A weekly program will start on Tuesdays from July 15, cost $5 per week.
The program will be led by experienced coaches including bronze medallist in women’s competition Australian Masters Games.
Each week includes fun exercises, improve balance, strength and flexibility, skills development and small sided games. Walking Football is indoor soccer with modified rules, making it easy for people of all abilities aged 50 plus to participate.
In addition, The Whittlesea Lakers team, men 50 plus and ladies 45 plus, has recently been formed including participants coming together from Northern Metropolitan Melbourne and East Gippsland to play in the Australian Masters Games in Canberra. This will be held from October 19 to 23. The team is in need of additional players-ladies.
