The highlight of the weekly golf calendar at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club was the Doris Chambers foursomes stableford event last Wednesday for the ladies.
The division one event was taken out by the sister act, Katrina Fearnely and Jacinta Wilson, with 32 points, while division two went the way of Hayley Cotton and Lori Murray with 34 points.
Di Gray and Val Gilbert will represent the Lakes Entrance Golf Club in the Doris Chambers State Finals at Yering Meadows and Sanctuary Lakes golf clubs in October.
Last Tuesday’s Young and the Rest of Us session was won by Karen Nicholas.
Thursday’s medley event was stableford with 78 players teeing up, “C” grade winner Westy Stephens took the overall on count back with 39 points.
Consistent Neil Howell won “B” grade, with the same score as did “C” grade victor, Dylan Nikolajew.
Di Gray continued her good recent form to take Saturday’s women’s stroke event with a score of plus two.
Melesia Johnson put together a good round to take “A” grade with plus five, while club champion Renee Percival was busy winning three nearest the pins.
The men competed for the coveted monthly medal with Brad Marsden coming out on top with a score of minus four.
Other winners included Josh Piper (“B” grade) and Kia Douglas (“C” grade).
Dean Grining had the best gross score with 77 off the stick.
