Swan Reach continued its good start to the season with its second impressive victory, this time over a wounded Lindenow South, who showed plenty of spirit and improvement after its round one Omeo District Football League flummoxing at the mercy of 2025 premiership favourite Bruthen.
The Swans were quickly out of the blocks putting the match out of the reach of the Swampies with a six-goal to one first quarter with Max Solomon (seven goals) in fine touch, partaking in a stirring battle with brother Alfie, neither prepared to concede an inch.
The Swampies played their best football in the second term, slotting three majors, several of their youngsters impressing with goal
kicking one of the feature of their play, but they were still outscored by the Swans who booted another six to go in at half time leaders by 52 points.
Alex Saunders was showing off his exquisite skills making life easy for Max Solomon on several occasions, kicking to his advantage, his biggest task driving the ball through the big sticks.
Jesse Guarnaccia is a prized recruit for the Swans, the hard nut missing last season with a knee injury, back up and running at full
speed, he’s a exciting proposition and will cause plenty of headaches for opposition sides in 2025.
Boris Byrant (two) and the pacy Tyler Hood (two) impressed as link up players, while Zach Ballard starred slotting three goals.
The heat went out of the contest in the second half, Swan Reach kicked six goals to three to win comfortably by 76 points.
The crowd came to their feet when The Voice star, Micka Harrington, managed to slot a major.
Youngster Blake Maiden kicked two goals for the Swampies and joined in the best by Tyson Canham in his first match for the
club in five years, Nick O’Keefe, the hard-running Jamie Donnelly, Shane Thorpe and
Alfie Solomon.
Lindenow South will host Swifts Creek this week with both sides looking for their maiden victory of the season, while Swan Reach will head up to tackle reigning premier Omeo Benmabra, who will be smarting after going down to Buchan.
On paper if they take their best side up the mountain, Swan Reach should have too many tricks for the Alpine Ranges at this stage of the season.
