Event organisers across East Gippsland are invited to attend East Gippsland Shire Council’s 2025 Events Masterclass this May.
These practical and informative workshops are designed to help organisers deliver
safe, successful and sustainable events.
The masterclass also marks the launch of the ‘Promote Your Next Event in East Gippsland’ guide – a comprehensive resource to help organisers boost event visibility and reach the right audiences.
Proudly hosted by the East Gippsland Shire Council, the workshops reinforce council’s commitment to supporting vibrant and responsible community events that foster connection, safety and environmental responsibility.
The 2025 events masterclass is all about equipping local organisers with practical tools, expert insights, and valuable resources to take their events to the next level.
Keynote speakers will bring a range of perspectives and practical knowledge to support local event planning:
– Cassie Atkinson, volunteer coordinator at GippSport, will share insights on the Volunteering Gippsland website and available resources to help organisers connect with and support volunteers.
A passionate advocate for community engagement, Cassie leads the Volunteer Management Activity (VMA), a project funded by the Department of Social Services.
– Miles Malcolm, a seasoned commander with the CFA, will present on risk and emergency planning.
With more than 30 years of frontline experience in managing emergency responses – including during East Gippsland’s most significant wildfire and flood events – Miles will provide practical guidance on identifying risks, preparing emergency plans and training teams to keep events safe and well-managed.
The free masterclasses include dinner and will be held at two locations:
– Tuesday, May 6 – Bairnsdale RSL, 2 Forge Creek Road, Bairnsdale
– Wednesday, May 7 – Albert & Co, 201 Esplanade, Lakes Entrance
Both sessions run from 5.30pm-8pm.
