Students at Metung Primary School have certainly been very busy this past term, enjoying a plethora of amazing activities and opportunities in and around the region.
Prep and grade one students explored the theme ‘Under the Ocean’ with a range of insightful learning experiences. They created ‘Ocean’s in a Bottle’, slime for their sea creature figurines and visited the Shell Museum and the Fisherman’s Co-Op in Lakes Entrance.
At the Shell Museum the children were introduced to all sorts of interesting creatures such as flying fish, sharks, sea urchins and the like, alongside glowing coral and beautiful seashells in every shape and size.
At the Co-Op, students were treated to a behind-the-scenes guided tour and privileged to see the inner workings of the establishment.
The children were very excited at the prospect of being able to hold both a prawn and a crab.
The excursion wrapped up with a delicious serve of fish and chips from the Co-Op’s newly established café, Off The Wharf.
A great time was had by all.
Pupils at Metung Primary also enjoyed many other fun activities throughout the term, including tennis, lawn bowls, pancakes with their pen pals, Cross Country, divisional lawn bowls, district swimming, T-ball, MARC Van library sessions, a STEM egg carrying challenge, an amazing Easter Bunny artwork, hot cross bun making, Easter crafts, hot dogs and casual dress day.
To say it’s been an eventful 10 weeks is probably an understatement.
