It was another huge week of golf at the Lakes Entrance, highlighted by the playing of the annual Fisherman’s Charity Day on Saturday, which attracted a huge field of 108 players.
The highly sought-after Fisherman’s Trophy was won by Morwell’s Colin King with 40 points, with Lakes’ Shane Sproule (40) runner-up.
In the ladies section the winner was Woodland’s Golf Club’s Marnie Armstrong with 37 points, finishing a shot ahead of consistent local Val Gilbert.
Last Tuesday’s Ruthless and Toothless competition saw 37 players sign up, Michael Loveridge took out “A” grade and Konrad Decker, “B” grade.
Lorna Tiziani was the winner of Young and the Rest of Us on countback from Stella Taylor.
Wednesday’s stableford event for the ladies, saw 26 player tee up, with Karen McKenna victorious in “A” grade and in the overall event, with 38 points, the same score as the “B” grade winner,
Anita Bertram.
Thursday’s medley stableford event was popular, with 93 players and it was great to see some younger members among the winners.
Dave Smythe had a great round winning “A” grade with 41 points, with Connor Guillot enjoying the freedom of the school holidays to take “B” grade with an outstanding score of 42 points, only to be topped by Kai Douglas, who took “C” grade and the overall victory with 43 points.
