Accomplished golfer Peter Lonard turned back the clock last week, winning the Maffra Pro-Am by two shots.
Lonard, who has a win on the American tour and 12 wins in Australia under his belt, including two Australian Opens and a Masters, shot a six under 66.
Playing the Maffra layout for the first time, Lonard birdied consecutive par fives at four and five and then added a third in succession at the par four sixth, getting his round into action.
His score saw him finish two strokes clear of the field, David Tapping, Carl Smedley, David Fearns and Tim Elliott all sharing second at four-under.
Players spoke effusively during presentations about the presentation and playability of the putting surfaces presented by Maffra Golf Club.
Lonard was happy with his round and taking the major share of the prizemoney.
“There were a few little doglegs out there and I probably got away with a few and got a bit lucky but I
played pretty solidly,” Lonard said.
