It was another competitive week of golf at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club with more than 100 players taking part on two of the four days of competition.
Tuesday’s men’s Ruthless and Toothless was again hard-fought with Peter Nicholas winning “A” grade narrowly from Ronnie Baldock.
Greg Bull did enough to take out “B” grade, leaving a quality field in his mirrors.
Michelle Kirk was the winner of the Young and the Rest of Us competition, posting a score of minus two.
Wednesday’s ladies’ day event was won by Renee Percival, who also took out “A” grade, while Lyn Bennett was successful in “B” grade. Both had 36 stableford points.
On Thursday 101 players teed up for medley stableford, with Woorayl Golf Club’s Tom Ryan leading home all players with an impressive 42 points off a 13 handicap.
Former local Adam Henwood was victorious in “A” grade with 37 points, a great score given he plays off plus three.
Locals Wes Coad (“C” grade) and Tony McKean (“D” grade) were also among the winners, having a sensational 40 and 41 points scores respectively.
Saturday saw 116 (17 women and 99 men) players compete in hot and humid conditions with young Hunter Douglass continuing his rapid rise, posting a 63 net to win “A” grade and the overall event.
His 15 handicap looked set for another trim.
Fox Hill Golf Club’s Armando Costaganna won “B” grade and Mirboo North’s Clancy Snell was the winner of “C” grade.
Popular nonagenarian Nola McKenna won the women’s competition with a well compiled 72 net.
