Lovers of fishing, fresh seafood and music enjoyed the long weekend in style at Hooked on Lakes last weekend.
The event hosted by the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) and backed by East Gippsland Shire Council and Emergency Recovery Victoria’s Local Government Bushfire Recovery Funding, saw huge crowds flock to the esplanade for a range of fishing and seafood-related activities, market stalls, kids activities, music, kids fishing clinics, casting clinics, lantern making, fish illustration workshops, catch and cook demonstrations with local chef Sam Mahlook, tours with Lakes Entrance Fishermen’s Co-op (LEFCOL), a fishing and outdoor gear swap-meet and much more.
VFA chief executive officer, Travis Dowling, said spectacular weekend weather ensured the event built on that of previous years.
“We had thousands of people enjoy the festivities and they were spoilt for choice with family-friendly activities showcasing fishing and fresh Victorian seafood,” he said.
“Saturday night’s Seafood Extravaganza saw nearly 100 guests enjoy the best in fresh Victorian seafood, while live music from The Pierce Brothers on Sunday evening capped off the best edition of Hooked on Lakes to date.”
