With school back and the holidays over, numbers were down for the weekly Lakes Entrance parkrun, which held its seventh birthday event last Saturday.
Only 53 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom eight were first timers and 10 recorded new personal bests, the event led home by Lauchlan Thompson in his first look at the five-kilometre course.
Thompson recorded 18 minutes and 46 seconds, finishing well ahead of Peter Brown (21.22) and Jake Dollman (21.48), who ran a personal best.
The first female across the line was the Pakenham Road Runners’ Kimberley Head (23.55) in 11th place overall, recording a personal best time.
Other personal bests were recorded by Michael Bosmans (23.56), Tania Casey (27.05), Pariss McKendry (27.59), Dallas Risely (35.01), Samantha Reynolds (39.19) and Chelsea Erickson (41.54).
Running groups represented in the event were Lakes and District Runners, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Pakenham Road Runners, Everlast Fitness Runners, Baw Baw Runners and the Crosbie Crew.
The Lakes Entrance parkrun was first conducted on February 3, 2018, with last Saturday the 297th edition.
Since the beginning, 3653 participants have completed 13,870 parkruns covering a total distance of 69,350 km, including 1748 new personal bests.
