Last Wednesday saw the culmination of the Lakes Entrance Golf Club ladies’ Summer Cup for 2025, with the consistent Jenny Dowie pronounced the winner.
Dowie registered impressive rounds of 40, 36 and 35, capping off a good day, also taking out “B” grade, while Jacinta Wilson was victorious in “A” grade with a sensational 42 points.
Tuesday’s Ruthless and Toothless saw 38 players tackle course, with winners being Leo O’Keefe (“A” grade) and Rex Mockett (“B” grade).
Thursday’s medley stroke attracted 88 players, with popular nonagenarian Ivan Witham carving the course up with a scintillating round of 66 net.
Steve Smith won “A” grade with 67 net, while long-hitting left hander Gary Naylor also finished on 66 to take “B” grade.
Despite the heat numbers were again solid last Saturday, with the men’s and ladies’ events attracting 109 players.
Clint Dostine was the overall winner of the men’s event and “A” grade with 39 points, the wily Les Beckett nailed “B” grade and Future Golf’s Michael Amad was the victor of “C” grade.
The ladies’ event was a close finish with four lasses, finishing on 34 points after the countback, Jennifer Kesper was the winner with Sue Toseland runner-up.
