Refreshed after a week off, the success story of the 2024/25 season, Lakes Entrance will chase its 10th victory of the season in round 11 of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) this Saturday.
The second-ranked Seagulls will tackle the third-placed West Bairnsdale in a one-day match at the Lakes Entrance Recreation Reserve.
It will be another test for Lakes who have taken all before them season and regardless of the result they are guaranteed a spot in the BCA one-day competition.
The Seagulls will play Lindenow South Glenaladale at a date to be determined.
Lakes Entrance will again be looking for big performances from imports Sam Kincaid, Josh Sackfield and Jack Timms as they tackle the reigning premier, led wonderfully by Ryan Halford and the stoic Brodie Anderson.
West will go into the clash full of confidence having been comfortable winners of the 20/20 competition last weekend. They are a professional outfit who will also still be hurting from going down to Wy Yung in the first game after the break.
Lakes Entrance is 20 points ahead of third and fourth teams West Bairnsdale and Wy Yung, with a finals spot now locked away.
They will be hoping to have Tom Stubbs again available this week, his first innings for the season against Orbost outstanding and his free scoring in the middle order could be a game changer.
Co-captain Ben John looks set to miss again with a knee injury, while Daniel Bryant is nearing a return and will bolster the ranks.
In “B” grade the Seagulls do battle with Metung Swan Reach at the Swan Reach Recreation Reserve.
The under 13s are back from holidays with Lakes Entrance White and Maroon going head-to-head at St Brendans on Friday night.
