After such a large event as the New Year’s Eve celebrations and fireworks in Lakes Entrance there must be a clean up.
Much of what East Gippsland Shire work crews do happens behind the scenes, and a good example of this is their early morning efforts on New Year’s Day in Lakes Entrance.
The crew arrived at 4.30am and found overturned bins, broken glass and other debris in the parks and public spaces around the Myer Street Jetty and Cunninghame Arm Footbridge. As the sun rose, the full scale of the mess became apparent and reinforcements were called in from the Bairnsdale and Paynesville who quickly responded.
The three crews worked together to clean parks, the Surf Life Saving Club, paths and playgrounds to make the area safe and welcoming again by the time most of us were waking up.
