Thumbs up thumbs down 08/01/2025

THUMBS UP: Huge thumbs up to June S, recreational boater, for picking up litter on Nicholson River banks from bridge to rail trail! Your dedication is inspiring and preserves our waterway’s beauty.

THUMBS UP: To Whelans for the fantastic work they have been doing on Myer Street. I travel on that road at least twice a day and the smooth surface is a pleasure to drive on.

THUMBS DOWN: To whoever is responsible for the poor state of the carpark near the Reject Shop/Cheap as Chips. There’re weeds and rubbish anywhere and the white lines for car parking are almost invisible. It urgently requires attention.

THUMBS UP: To the hero gentleman who removed a huntsman spider from my car outside Spotlight last Wednesday.

THUMBS UP: To the two residents of Alexandra Avenue, Kalimna, for their joint magnificent display of Christmas Lights. It’s beautiful to witness this magical display every night. Certainly worth a drive by. Well done.

THUMBS UP: Thank you for your support in me clearing rubbish that comes from the storm water drain and maintaining the back of Lorimer Drive, much appreciated. Unfortunately someone has had me stopped by complaining about me. Not happy, as most people stopped and praised me for my time and caring for the environment.

THUMBS UP: To the Main Street lawn mower who is spreading epic Christmas cheer to all locals and visitors in his Santa suit – you bring a smile to all.

THUMBS DOWN: To local council for the state of the outdoor pool. The town has very little to no entertainment for young people so to have the outdoor pool closed during early summer is a disgrace. So many tourists in the town and no pool. Not everyone wants to swim in the heated pool.

THUMBS UP: A young boy I helped at work was so polite, it was nice to see. Then he came back and melted my heat. He said he wanted to give me his $2 change as a tip. I said “no, that’s lovely but you keep it”. We agreed upon putting it in the charity box. An amazing young man and kudos to his parents.

THUMBS UP: To the Metung Pub for an amazing New Year’s Eve fireworks display at 9.30pm. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Such a lot of joy to so many families. Thank you so much.

THUMBS DOWN: To two families at Lakes Entrance last weekend. Firstly to the parents encouraging their sons to jump off the Footbridge, despite the warning signs. And to the two women who had their dog in the shallows at the Esplanade beach opposite Laura Street. They had their dog on a lead in the shallows waiting for it to poo in the water. Absolutely disgusting while we had our little granddaughters playing in the water nearby.
