Christmas came a day late for classy Lakes Entrance Golf Club left hand member David Murrell when he scored a magnificent hole-in-one at the par three third hole on Boxing Day.
Murrell was one of the 60 players who took to the course for medley stableford event, a mixture of local and visiting players enjoying the idyllic conditions at a course that has never looked so great.
The event was taken out by popular local nonagenarian Ivan Witham who compiled an outstanding 40 points to claim the major prize.
Grade winners were Rick Murray (“A” grade), Mitchell Naylor (“B” grade) and Witham (“C” grade).
Men’s nearest the pin winners were Gary Morrison, Michael Spruzen, Witham and of course Murrell.
In the women’s they were Lori Murray, Ruth McPhee and Nadine Martin.
The sweepstakes winners were Allen Lawson and Bernie Hoppe.
