Members of three significantly important community organisations took part in an important training scenario last Friday at Main Beach.
In the first training day of its kind, Lakes Entrance Surf Life Saving Club, local Ambulance Victoria representatives and Lakes Entrance Fire Brigade members completed a response to a critical incident with the purpose to gain a better understanding about the capabilities of the different emergency services that will be responding to these types of incidents on the beach, as well as the logistics and challenges that can be faced in this setting.
Training focussed on CPR, defibrillation, airway management and extrication of the patient off the beach into the 4WD ambulance.
Organisers said it was a great opportunity to familiarise the agencies with some of the complexities of working on the beach during the busy summer period as well as fostering strong relationships across the different emergency services who will be working together during these incidents if they occur.
Given the success of the training day, organisers hope to continue to strengthening the relationships between these organisations and support each other in training and education moving forward, anticipating it will now be an annual training event.
