There have been some nice reports of fish landed throughout the region, over the Christmas/New Year holiday period, with Lake Tyers providing some nice catches of flathead.

Lakes Entrance: Kingfish, snapper, silver trevally, salmon, tailor, flathead and bream are all active. Local prawns, pilchards, and pipis are proving to be the go-to baits. Trophy-sized gummy shark are being landed right around the Victorian coastline both in deep water and off the beach. Prawns are in the lake.

Lake Tyers: Fishing off the beach from Lake Bunga to Eastern Beach is producing some great results. Salmon and gummy sharks are being landed with metal lures. Some nice flathead being landed in the lake.

Tambo River: Below the Highway Bridge to the river mouth is producing good results, using local prawn and cut crab.

Metung: Trevally, kingfish and snapper are taking local prawns and pipis. Bream are biting off the Hotel Jetty and along the boardwalk on pipis and local prawn. Flathead and King George whiting are in Lake King taking plastics. Prawns are running around the Nungurner and Metung areas.

Ross Rowe had a successful final morning fishing at Lakes Entrance in his kayak, landing half a half dozen salmon around 30cm and a tailor that were just what his wife ordered for fresh fish. (PS)
