International lawn bowls star and former local Barrie Lester is heading home to play and conduct a clinics prior to Christmas.
The Lakes Entrance Bowls Club is excited to have the former club champion return back to where it all started for a special appearance this Saturday.
It’s been 20 years since Lester left Lakes Entrance to take on the bowling world and his former club is excited to welcome him back for a one-off game, to give back to the club and community.
Lester will play for Lakes Entrance 1 in Gippsland Bowls Region Weekend Superleague at the Lakes Entrance Bowling Club, when the club hosts Heyfield.
Lester now resides in Queensland, making his name as one of the biggest and most successful names in the sport
in Australia over the past 20 years.
As part of his return to his roots, he will conduct a junior clinic at the Bairnsdale Bowls Club on Friday between 9.30am-noon, where Lester is looking forward to working with the Gippsland Gecko’s squad and any interested junior players.
Lester has strong ties to his roots and always remembers the people who gave him a chance, coaching and assisting, which is one of the reasons he loves coaching junior players.
Lester will also host a coaching clinic at Lakes Entrance on Thursday from 3-6pm, will all members welcome to partake in the clinic, which will head inside at 5pm for an informative slideshow and nibbles.
