Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH) recently welcomed community members, staff, and partners to its annual general meeting – a gathering that reflected on the past year’s achievements, acknowledged challenges and celebrated the organisation’s dedication to a healthier Gippsland.
Opening the meeting, chief executive officer Anne-Maree Kaser spoke proudly of GLCH’s accomplishments, from expanding access to vital health services to establishing new locations, all with an eye on sustainability.
“Navigating a challenging environment while enhancing service access and efficiency speaks volumes about the dedication of our staff and their commitment to our community,” she shared, underscoring the resilience and drive that fuel GLCH’s work.
Board chair Carol Ross echoed these sentiments, focusing on the power of partnerships.
She highlighted GLCH’s growing connections with regional and rural health services and stressed the importance of investing in health for regional communities.
“Working alongside partners who share our vision allows us to amplify our impact and better serve our community,” Ms Ross said.
During the meeting, attendees reviewed GLCH’s annual report, reflecting on achievements and the complexities of delivering quality care amid financial pressures.
Ms Kaser addressed budget updates and shared how careful financial management allows GLCH to keep pushing forward, even as costs rise.
The AGM also recognised the expert leadership and dedication demonstrated by the GLCH Board and announced the re-election of board members Glen Hodges, Bruce Hurley, and Matthew Scott.
She warmly welcomed Judy Brennan as a new board member and thanked outgoing board member Robyn Cooney for her invaluable contributions.
Ms Kaser celebrated staff achievements and the team’s commitment to professional growth.
Highlights included staff scholarships, certifications and special awards like the Australian College of Nursing High Achiever Award received by Lisa Tyter. AMK praised the dedication of GLCH’s team, who make high-quality services possible for the community.
Health promotion team leader Jackie Nethercote provided an update on initiatives such as Vic Kids Eat Well, Active Little Kids, and tobacco harm reduction efforts.
Through partnerships with local schools and other organisations, these initiatives are creating a positive impact on the lives of community members.
Emma Halcombe, care coordination manager, shared touching stories of clients who received essential support from GLCH’s Home and Community Support Services unit.
She highlighted the critical role of community connections in helping clients manage housing needs and complex mental health challenges – stories that brought to life the heart of GLCH’s mission.
The AGM reaffirmed GLCH’s dedication to transparency, community involvement, and collaboration in tackling health challenges.
With another year ahead, GLCH is excited to build on this momentum, continue growing partnerships, and serve the Gippsland community with dedication and care.
