Rain marred several events at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club last week with play abandoned on Saturday due to the inclement weather.
The club’s simulators got a good workout while the moisture fell outside.
Tuesday’s Ruthless and Toothless was dominated by Norm Backman and Terry Green who were victorious in “A” and “B” grade respectively with an impressive scores of 34, Backman shooting 40 off the stick for nine holes.
Par was the order of the day last Wednesday for ladies day, with Julie Rowe coming out on top with a score of plus three, “B” grade was won by Jenny Stott, who carded plus two.
Thursday’s medley stableford event was won by “B” grade player and club captain Ashley Chester, who compiled 40 points in a great round, outpointing 71 other players.
Rob Sperring took “A” grade with 37, while “C” grade was won on countback by Geoff Preston with 37 points.
The club ladies’ foursome championship was recently completed over 27 holes with Renee Percival and Julie Rowe coming out on top with a sensational score of 131.
The handicap section was taken out by Sue Wilson and Marlene Holmes, while the 18-hole event saw Hayley Cotton and Jennifer Dowie the winners.
Wilson and Holmes backed up winning the other nine-hole event.
Another winner in recent weeks was Di Dickson who won the Golf East Gippsland veterans competition “A” grade player of the year.
