The new kindergarten at Lakes Entrance Primary School (LEPS) has started to be placed in position after being erected off site and will be ready for the 2025 year.
It has been built by the Department of Education and will be managed by Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH), under the Kindergarten on School
Site program and marks a significant step in enhancing early childhood education in the region.
This new kindergarten will have two rooms as well as outdoor learning areas. It will provide kindergarten for up to 66 children at a time.
LEPS principal Simon Prior said this new centre will provide additional kindergarten places for the local community while making drop-off time simpler and more convenient for families.
“There is strong evidence that having kindergartens co-located with primary schools offers benefits to children and families,” he said.
“This can lead to improved outcomes for children and families. Co-locating encourages a smoother transition from early childhood into primary school, by keeping the environment and social network the same, which can contribute to better health and educational outcomes.
“We have worked closely with the Victorian School Building Authority, who are overseeing construction works with the project forecast to be completed and ready for students to begin at the start of 2025,” he said.
