The Meerlieu Fire Brigade held a pre-season training day recently, taking the opportunity to brushing up on skills and work as a team through different exercises.
The day saw 13 members in attendance, crewed up onto the Meerlieu, Perry Bridge and Avon tankers.
The day consisted of map reading, radio calls after receiving a pager message to an incident, an entrapment drill, firefighting off the back deck, draughting and looking over the new Perry Bridge Ultra Heavy Tanker.
David Reed (Perry Bridge captain), Gus Forester (Perry Bridge lieutenant), Chris Hulls (Stratford firefighter) and Dan Heinrichs (Lindenow firefighter) led the instruction and made sure the day ran smoothly.
The day was finished off with a debrief and a great barbecue lunch.
