Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance (SLSLE) is presenting two fun and educational events for the general public over the summer period.
SNAAP, Special Needs Aquatic Awareness Program, and a Community Beach Awareness Day will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Main Beach and the SLSLE invite all to come along and have some fun whilst learning vital information to safely enjoy our beaches.
SNAAP is a free beach awareness program aimed to provide additional needs to engage in activities around the water, providing education of water/beach safety and awareness. Everyone will be welcome no matter what ability or experience. The program is tailored to individual needs and requirements, with a variety of activities dependent on confidence and ability.
The Community Beach Awareness Day is a free program for families to gain knowledge on beach safety, how to spot dangers and help themselves and others out of dangerous situations.
“Bring your family down no matter what age,” SLSLE captain Eden McMillan said.
“Activities cater towards working with families to expand their skills and awareness. We are super excited to see our ideas and plans come to life in January.
“I am grateful to have the resources available and personnel who will aid us in being able to provide such new and inclusive programs for our community,” she said.
SLSLE Chief Instructor Jess Woodward agreed that it is great to be delivering surf education to locals, across all abilities and ages.
“Eden and the team have worked tirelessly during the off season to get these workshops off the ground. I’m stoked to see them come to fruition,” she said.
The SNAAP program will run from 10am to 2pm on the day and Community Beach Awareness from 2pm to 4pm.
