Defending champion, Lakes Entrance maintained its hold on second place on the Gippsland Bowls Region midweek premier division bowls ladder, with a hard-fought 67-59 win over Heyfield at the Heyfield Bowling Club.
The Bowling Roos were victorious in two of three rinks, but the efforts of Lakes’ Michael Bratt, Eric Spence, Wallace Mason and Kevin Brown in winning 31-12 was enough to double the sides winning streak.
Contrasting results in division two, as both sides battle to maintain contact with the top three sides.Lakes 2 dropped to fifth spot after a disappointing afternoon out at Lindenow, the Cockies clean sweeping, 76-46.
Lakes 3 sit sixth, despite scoring one of the biggest wins in recent times over a struggling Howitt Park, the final score an extraordinary 100-25.
Leading the way were, Max Towen, Treen Norder, David Ramsay and Geoffrey Rawlings, who continued their outstanding recent form with a sensational 40-10 success.
Other winners were Angelo Alonso, Christine Piatek, Leslie Gersbach, Glenn Barker (33-9) and Margaret Simpson, Joseph Hales, Lee Burt and Greg Bertram (27-6).
In division three, both Lakes Entrance were awarded full points, with Lakes Entrance 5 getting a forfeit victory from Bruthen, which has moved them to fourth on the ladder.
Lakes 4 maintained its hold on second spot on the ladder, after surging late to beat Bairnsdale Golf Bowls at Eagle Point, 44-33.
Ian Gray, Leslie Gersbach and Carol and John Hurren continued their unbeaten season run with a 17-15 victory, with Dianne Scott, Frank Detering, Heather Todd and John Kimberley dominant in a 27-18 victory.
