Richard Bowen loves ice cream and has enjoyed a long career making, eating and selling his product.
And he is now back in his hometown opening Bow’s Ice Cream Parlour in Myer Street, Lakes Entrance.
Many will recognise the business name as he has ice cream parlours in Traralgon and Mid Valley Shopping Centres.
“I first opened a store in Mid Valley as a young guy in 1986 and have been perfecting the art for the past 40 years,” Richard said.
“I am always passionate about producing a great product.”
Richard grew up on a dairy farm at Lakes Entrance, going to local schools, playing tennis and was even a premiership player in the under 17s with the Lakes Entrance Football Club. He also loved being part of the local life saving club as a kid.
“Being a local, I love Lakes Entrance and am keen to put back into the town with our business, not just with awesome products but employing staff from this area,” Richard said.
“Every seaside resort needs an ice cream parlour, so families come and create memories. We have 40 flavours of handmade ice cream made from fresh Gippsland dairy farm products, ranging from baby cones, frog in a pond, funny face ice creams through to king cones for the enthusiast.”
The parlour also offers hot baked potatoes and hot dogs, both with a variety of toppings, loaded shakes, milk shakes, thick shakes, chocolate and nut dip, smoothies and much more.
“We opened last Sunday and have enjoyed the response from locals and tourists, they are all just happy to see an ice cream parlour back in town,” Richard said.
